Regular Season

The Regular Season is FYBA’s core event of the year. Registration for the Regular Season starts in mid-August with practices (grades 3-12 only) starting in late November. Games for all grades start in early January and are played every Saturday for 10 weeks. In the Regular Season players are assigned to a division based on their grade and gender then placed on teams through a draft process. Registration fees include a new uniform for all players (see the Fees section for more info on registration and other fees).

The FYBA Academy

The FYBA Academy is a 6 week basketball camp and is separate from the Regular Season. The Academy’s focus is on teaching basketball fundamentals to beginning and intermediate players over the course of six 1½ hour Saturday sessions. Core skills taught include ball handling, footwork, shooting, rebounding, offense, and defense. The Academy is optional but is a great opportunity for players to learn some basic skills in preparation for the Regular Season. The FYBA issues refunds to players who withdraw from the league based on the date the withdrawal is requested. The total amount of the refund is based on when the refund request is received according to the following schedule. See the league calendar for the specific dates of each season.

  • Regular Refund Period - The regular refund period starts from the day the player registered to midnight of the night that the regular refund period ends. The refund amount is the cost of registration minus the nonrefundable fee for regular withdrawal.
  • Late Refund Period - The late refund period starts the day after the regular refund period ends and ends on midnight, Dec 20th. The refund amount is the cost of registration minus the nonrefundable fee for late withdrawal.  The player is entitled to receive the uniform when withdrawing during late withdrawal.
  • No Refund Period -The no refund period begins on December 21th. No refunds will be given after that point, including players who are injured.

A full refund of fees paid will be issued for the following reasons:

  • The FYBA is not able to place a player on a team. A refund request will be entered automatically after the determination is made that the player cannot be placed on a team.
  • Player makes an AAU or approved school basketball team. NOTE: The player has a specific period in which to withdraw from the league without a penalty after which the regular withdrawal penalties will apply. See the league calendar for specific dates.

Refunds will be processed (ie. checks cut and credit cards refunded) at the end of each month during the season. Refunds will be made in the same manner as payment was made. Payments made by check will be made with a check mailed to the player's home address of record. Payments made by credit card will be made by a refund to the same credit card.
